We’re excited to announce that Titanium beta has launched. Headlining this release is full support for iPhone and Android application development. That’s right, now you can use the same set of Web technologies you’ve known (and loved!) for years to build apps for the desktop, browser and now mobile devices.

Interested in learning more? This Thursday, our own Kevin Whinnery will show you via webcast how he built a killer Yelp app with geo-location in just two days. As we like to say around the office – if Kevin can build it, you can certainly build it. While in beta, we’re limiting access to Titanium Mobile, but we’ll give anyone who attends this webcast instant access… no questions asked!
Titanium Desktop also saw some significant improvements with update services, crash detection, improved ruby/python support, and a revamped Titanium Developer. You can download Titanium Desktop right now.
Finally, we are also introducing the Appcelerator Network, a collection of testing, packaging, and distribution cloud services that make commercializing an application really easy. While submitting your next #1 app to Apple’s app store may never be “fun”, we’ve certainly taken the hassle out of that experience. I think you’ll also really like the additional services like analytics and advertising that we’re going to be launching through the Appcelerator Network as we head toward general availability.
Sound too good to be true? Join us at Jillian’s off 4th and Market, across from Moscone West, in San Francisco tomorrow night from 6 to 9PM for our official Titanium beta launch party. We’ll be showing off how the new mobile functionality works with demos, screencasts and some never before seen features. Come have a cold one on us, meet with the core Appcelerator development team, some industry hot shots and check out Titanium beta for the first time!
P.S. – check out our new website, which not only looks really cool, but also has tons of new information about this release.

From what I’ve read about Palm’s webOS, it uses Javascript, HTML, CSS…all of the things that Appcelerator uses. Does this mean that Appcelerator will jump-start the development of webOS applications, applications that could then be used on iPhone and Android platforms? What about Blackberry, Symbian, and, dare I say it, Windows Mobile?
We’ve introduced support for 5 platforms since December of last year (Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, Android), so we’re always looking for ways to grow our offering. That said, we are focusing on delivering a mobile platform for native iPhone and Android apps right now as we march toward GA later this summer.
Absolutely love the new designs for everything – website, developer app and codestrong. Well done on the awesome release, hope everything goes well for you guys tommorow.
So far I like the product a lot. And I’ve got a long track record building native iPhone & Android apps with native tools
