New Titanium Zero-to-App Videos Posted

by Scott Schwarzhoff on September 25, 2009

If you or someone you know is just getting started with Titanium, here are some great tutorials to help get you started.  We’ve organized these videos as the start of our “Zero-to-app” series, which will walk a new Titanium developer through all the steps required to publish an iPhone or Android application.  The Getting Started with Titanium video is equally valuable for desktop and mobile users as it covers both products.

Module O: What you can do with Titanium
This video runs through the Titanium architecture and provides a top-level overview of the Titanium Mobile APIs that you can use today:

  • Architecture Overview
  • API Overview
  • Kitchen Sink teaser

Module 1: Getting Started with Titanium
This module covers Titanium Developer, a single environment for creating iPhone, Android, PC, Mac, and Linux applications:

  • Titanium Developer Install
  • Appcelerator Network Registration
  • Developer overview

Module 2: Setting up Your Mobile Development Environment
Runs through how you install both the iPhone and Android SDKs.  Note: you’ll want to apply to Apple’s iPhone developer program if you’re planning on publishing an app over the coming weeks.  Takes time to make its way through contract approval.  Also, you will need a Mac to develop iPhone apps:

  • iPhone SDK install overview
  • Android SDK install overview

Module 3: Getting Started with the Kitchen Sink
We recommend that everyone install the Kitchen Sink sample project as their first application.  This app contains sample code of over 200 APIs that you can use in your projects:

  • Download the Sink code
  • Import project into Titanium Developer
  • Run the Sink in both emulators
  • Point out important examples

In a future update, we will publish the following video content to complete the zero-to-app series:

Module 4: Your First Project

  • Create a new project
  • Examine project code structure
  • Point out iPhone/Android specific directory structures

Module 5: Developing and Debugging Mobile Applications

  • Running apps in the emulators, targeting iPhone OS versions
  • Logging APIs
  • Exception handling and behavior

Module 6: Deploying to a Development Device

  • iPhone provisioning profiles
  • iPhone developer certificates
  • Running an application on your development device

Module 7: Ship it!

  • Creating application binaries
  • iTunes Connect
  • The Android marketplace

Module 8: Now that your app is live…

  • Co-marketing opportunities
  • Analytics services
  • Support offerings

Uh, ok…. But you didn’t include the link to the videos.

Ok weird… after I submitted the comment the whole page came up with the links. So never mind

Module 0 and 1 point to the same video. Is that what you meant?
