Appcelerator University Events Spread the Titanium Love

by Scott Schwarzhoff on September 9, 2009

Some of you have seen the Titanium goodness from recent events held on all corners of the planet. Here’s a recap of what’s happened recently:

Hoedown!
Leon Gersing presented to over 100 at the recent Ruby Hoedown.  Focused on developing desktop apps with Ruby, Leon mixed and matched content to really get the crowd into it.  Photo from event:

In his own words:

The talk was ~1hr. I used materials from [Appcelerator's] presentation to help show things like the app stack but mixed in my own style with it. For the mobile side, I also presented from the Kitchen Sink app when folks wanted to see specific implementations that I did not cover in my apps.

The dialog was amazing. the presentation seemed to strike a chord with web developers that want to get into the mobile space but want to mitigate the up front investment. I stressed the time to market and leveraging your current investments to bring quality products to customers. That seemed to resonate.

Given the experience I’ve had at Ruby Hoedown, I’m already submitting additional talks in the region through the rest of the year.

Titanium User Group India Launches
Mohammed Khan kicked off “TUG India” last Friday night in Bangalore. 15 folks showed to discuss all things Titanium. Chinmay Garde, a finalist in our recent contest, showed off his super-cool “I am here” geo-based social networking app. Mohammed ran through an overview of Titanium’s capabilities for the participants and lively conversation ensued. Some of the Twitter traffic from this event:

What a gathering @appcelerator @tugindia, people and the discussions went on and on…the excitement was quite genuine.

@mrinal Thanks buddy, sure it was great turnout and the sessions were quite interactive #tugindia

talk2saravanan: thanks to @chinmaygarde and @mohammed_khan for the sessions #tugindia

Titanium Dallas – Two for the price of one

Marshall wasn’t content with one event, so he held *two* over the past week.

Last Tuesday, Marshall presented at Dallas Ruby Brigade, a Ruby and Rails User Group.  Well attended event.  By the way, if you’re reading this and you took the video of the event, please ping Marshall!

Last Saturday’s event, “Titanium Workshop” covered both desktop and mobile development (check out Marshall’s mug here: http://bit.ly/v2S0o).  The event was taped via Ustream, so those of you out there who’d like to roll up their sleeves with Titanium training can see the taped recording here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/titanium-workshop
